In the final of our series of interviews for Digital Insights 2013, we talk to Meena Tharmarajah, Senior User Experience Designer at the ABC. Meena was one of the leads on some of the broadcaster's most successful apps, including Play School Play Time, Play School Art Maker, and Foodi. Today, Meena shares with us the key elements that make creating a large, content rich, and very complicated iPad app a successful venture.

More than 65% of Australians now have smartphones and two-thirds of them access the mobile web multiple times a day. One in three smartphone owners have 21-50 apps on their phone. In Australia, Adoption is a complex and very under resourced area: There were only 502 adoptions in the 2003-4 year. Almost 10 years later, this number has dwindled to just 315. National Adoption Awareness Week occurs each year and is a global event to advocate for awareness of the issues surrounding Adoption. More than 1,100 people have downloaded the new smart phone app created by Komosion for people who are at risk of domestic and family violence. iOS and Android versions of the App were commissioned by the NSW Government and launched by its Minister for Family and Community Services, the Hon Pru Goward on May 5.
