The writing has been on the wall for a while now and Facebook has just this week announced it's latest change to how content, in particular, promotional brand content, will be distributed in the news feed.

A typical Facebook user could see around 1,500 stories in their news feed each day. Facebook cuts that to approximately 300 stories that they think the user will be most likely to care about.

After listening to user feedback, Facebook believes users don’t want to see promotional content. As a result, less of it will be appearing within the news feed.
