When is your audience most active on social media?

surveyed 800 consumers, 1,000 small to mid-size businesses and 100 large businesses in order to uncover the ways people use social media sites including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.


Almost eight in 10 people (79%) now use social media, which is 10 points higher than last year.

More than a third of people access social media more than five times per day (35%), which is up from 26% last year. 18-29-year-olds are the most frequent users as 89% check their accounts at least once per day.

It is essential now more than ever, that businesses are present on social media sites and are regularly posting visually engaging content. Social media is constantly saturated with content as people and businesses compete for recognition. Therefore businesses need to understand when their audience is most active.


The report highlighted that the most popular times are in the evening (up from 49% to 57%) and first thing in the morning (up from 49% to 57%). Almost half are now accessing social media on their break (up from 33% to 47%) or at lunchtime (up from 36% to 47%).
